What’s next about The Mythos project?

8 Dec

The Mythos project generates from the idea of showing to the world what young people of about the same age coming from different countries to the same film festival in order to screen their own works co-operate to create films with central theme the ongoing and vivid financial crisis not only in Greece, but in many other countries in the world as well. These days that for the first time The Mythos project is trying to make these voices be heard in the world young and potential film-makers from The Netherlands, Spain, Lithuania and Greece are working hard and with great enthusiasm to achieve this goal. Some of them have already finished editing and are ready for the next step…which is the combination of all the short films made by each team separately in one, united and collective movie that aims to illustrate to the public that people and especially young ones no matter their country of origin, sex, speaking language or religion share the same idea for the world today. But this is up to them… What we can work on now is spreading the word about this project not only outside the city of Pyrgos, to other cities in Greece, but also outside our country, in the world… Students, teachers or simply anyone interested in film-making with the same central theme can create groups and work in similar way, create films and combine all of them into one. Then they can upload it in our blog, so that we gather the points of view of as many people as possible and make our own conclusions. We are looking forward to the first Mythos project outcome, but even more for your suggestions in order The Mythos project to continue its journey in time…

For many years, train was the main means of transport for people living in the area of Ilia. The railway starting from Piraeus, port near Athens,  with final destination the city of  Kalamata was used by all the inhabitants in West Peloponnese. Since last year, along with other great cuts, ended railway’s functioning from Patra to Kalamata.

Today Pyrgos’ railway station is almost abandoned and  rails tend to rust.

As a matter of history, railroad which connected Pyrgos and Katakolo ( distance 13km ) was the first railroad in Greece, outside the area of Attiki and it was inaugurated in February 1883.

Bicycle Film Festival in Athens

1 Dec

International Bicycle Film Festival, which started 11 years ago in New York and today it’s one of the most popular festival in the world, held in 27 countries this year, will take place in Athens for the second time from 8 till 11 December. Because life on a bike is, apart from alternative, absolutely exciting! And this is a fact that people in Athens have realised the last year in such an extent that bicycles have rapidly and massively appeared the last months everywhere in the city. Hope this hobby becomes everyday habit for even more people, because life still rolls…
